If You’re Not Using Organic Coffee You Could Possibly be Taking Poison!

I’m going to explain a bit about USDA certified organic items, especieally my favorite, organic coffee.

 

1) Synthetic compounds cannot be utilized to grow certified organic foods.

 

2) Certified organic products may not contain genetically modified plants or animals.

 

3) Foods labeled 100% organic may only contain certified organic ingredients and processing aids, except for water and salt.

 

4) Products labeled organic must contain at least 95% organic certified components, and the remaining 5% must be components that are not available in an organic form.

 

5) The USDA organic logo can be placed on any 100% organic or “Organic” item.

 

6) If an agricultural item, in this case, coffee is labeled as organic it can’t be treated with environmentally hazardous fertilizers like sewage sludge.

 

I’m not trying to belabor this issue with mindless organic labeling information, but you need to understand what you’re getting into with “organic” products.  Now that we have explored the definition of certified organic we can move onto the topic at hand.  Since we are looking at coffee, you can be almost completely confident that 100% of the beans are organic in an organically grown coffee.

 

Who cares if your coffee is grown organically?

 

1) You probably don’t want to consume something that was fertilized with sewage sludge, do you?

 

2) One of my greatest comforts with the USDA organic certification is no gene splicing business.

 

3) If you can’t handle caffeine then only drink organic decaf. coffee, or don’t drink coffee at all.  Carcinogenic chemicals such as ethyl acetate and methylene chloride are used in processing traditional decaf. coffees.  Organic decaffeinated coffees are processed with hot water and not chemicals.  There is proof to suggest that drinking chemical processed decaffeinated coffees may lead to rheumatoid arthritis.

 

4)  Herbicides are bad for the wonderful people that grow our coffee.   A good number of coffee farmers in 3rd world countries can’t read sufficiently, which may result in improper mixing of chemicals and inadequate protective clothing.

 

I have briefly listed a few points about the benefits of organic coffee.  Then there is the production of pesticides and herbicides.  The environmental impact from this alone is motivation enough to persuade anyone to drink organic coffee.

 

In conclusion, one must take into consideration the complete love and attention that goes into growing coffee organically.  The farmers inspect and baby their crops, resulting in perfectly developed organic coffee.  I don’t care if you think I’m just trying to promote my agenda, or promote your good health, please give organic coffee a taste and pass the word.
